In every product at Yaadhum, there’s a story worth telling. Today, it’s the story of Mr. Arumugam, a farmer from a small village just outside Madurai, whose organic groundnuts you may have already tasted without even knowing his name.
His farm is not large — just a few acres passed down through generations. Here, there are no chemical sprays, no artificial growth boosters, and no heavy machines tearing up the soil. Instead, there are patient hands, a watchful eye on the weather, and knowledge gathered over decades.
Planting happens when the soil has the right softness from the first rains. The seeds, saved from his own best harvests, are sown in neat rows by hand. During growth, weeds are removed manually, and cow dung compost enriches the soil naturally. When it’s time to harvest, the plants are pulled up gently so that the nuts remain whole and clean.
Post-harvest, the groundnuts are left to sun-dry under a clear blue sky. This slow drying process preserves their natural oils and nutty aroma. We at Yaadhum collect them directly, sort them for quality, and pack them in small batches to maintain their freshness.
Every time you snack on our groundnuts or grind them into chutney powder, you’re supporting Mr. Arumugam’s choice to keep farming the honest way. You’re helping him send his children to school, keep his soil healthy, and pass on his knowledge to the next generation.
It’s easy to forget that behind every packet in a shop lies a field and a family. But with Yaadhum, that connection is always alive.
